BROCKTON, MA — Tommy Googins and Chone James both were 3-for-5 with three runs scored, while Wyatt Patchett hit his second three-run homer of the season in the Vermont Lake Monsters 10-3 Futures League victory over the Brockton Rox Saturday night at Campanelli Field. 

Patchett (LeMoyne), who had hit a three-run homer in his previous at bat in the ninth inning last Monday, smacked another three-run shot in the top of the first inning on Saturday to give the Lake Monsters a 4-0 lead.

Vermont loaded the bases in the second inning on James (Virginia) second double in two innings, a walk and hit batter before a Joe Marini (Catholic) two-run single. Then in the third, Googins (Princeton) singled to left scoring Justin Miller (Jacksonville) for a 7-0 Lake Monsters advantage. 

Googins added an RBI double in the sixth and later scored on a bases loaded walk to Jeter Polledo (Wake Forest), who accounted for Vermont’s 10th run with a solo homer to left in the ninth inning. 

Starter Preston Crowl (Virginia Tech) allowed one run on three hits with seven strikeouts over the first three innings for Vermont (4-2), while New Haven teammates Christian De Risi and Matt Minio along with Matt Hirsch (Tufts) each tossed two innings of relief
