BURLINGTON, VT — The Lake Monsters five-game winning streak came to an end Tuesday night as the Nashua Silver Knights jumped out to a 10-run lead and went on to beat Vermont 11-6 in Futures League action on the Delta Dental Diamond at historic Centennial Field.

Nashua scored runs in each of the first three innings to take a 4-1 lead, then added two runs in the sixth and five runs in the seventh for an 11-1 lead. The Lake Monsters were able to stave off a 10-run “mercy rule” loss by scoring in a run in the bottom of the seventh when Jeremy Sosa (Manhattan) led off the inning with a triple and scored with two outs on an RBI fielder’s choice from Sam Cavossa (Saint Michael’s).

Vermont added a pair of runs in both the eight and ninth innings, including a solo homer from Shuan McMillan (St. John’s) high off the videoboard in left-centerfield. It was McMillan’s second home run of the season and he has now hit safely in all seven games with the Lake Monsters (13-for-30).

Lake Monsters will host Nashua again on Wednesday night with the game being simulcast WJOY 1230am, marking Vermont’s first game broadcast on local radio since during its 2014 New York-Penn League season.
