NEW BRITAIN, CVT — The New Britain Bees scored all seven of its runs, six of them unearned, in the bottom of the first inning and went on to beat the Vermont Lake Monsters 7-4 in Futures League action Thursday night at New Britain Stadium.
The Bees sent 11 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first, starting with their leadoff batter reaching on a fielding error and then scoring five of their seven runs after two outs in the inning. That included an A.J. Evasco two-run double and the final two runs scoring on a missed catch error by leftfielder Jacob Miller (Jacksonville).
Vermont scored single runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings on a Jack Rickheim (Harvard) bases loaded walk, Tyler Favretto (Kansas Wesleyan) RBI single and Colby Brouillette (Central Connecticut) RBI single to cut deficit to 7-3.
