BURLINGTON, VT — Colby Brouillette went 3-for-5 with an RBI single and solo home run, Mark Quatrani 3-for-3 with a walk, run, double, RBI and Luke Parise allowed one unearned run on just one hit over five innings as the Vermont Lake Monsters beat the Futures League Road Warriors 8-1 Friday night at historic Centennial Field.
Vermont jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a Jackson Sirois (Virginia) leadoff double followed by Brouillette’s (Central Connecticut) RBI single. Quatrani (Cornell) and Owen McKiernan (Tufts) also had RBI singles in the inning.
Brouillette led off the fifth with a line drive homer just inside the rightfield foul pole for the first of four Vermont runs in the inning, capped off by a Jacob Miller (Jacksonville) two-out, two-run double for a 7-1 lead.
Parise (Saint Joseph’s) allowed one unearned run on one hits over the first five innings to earn the victory. The only hit off Parise was a one-out single in the top of the first that put runners on the corners, but Parise got out of the jam with an inning-ending 4-6-3 double play. The unearned run came in the fourth on a sacrifice fly after a fielding error earlier in the inning.
