BURLINGTON, VT — The Vermont Lake Monsters extended their winning streak to five straight with a 9-5 victory over the Brockton Rox in Futures League action Wednesday night at historic Centennial Field. 

Vermont trailed 2-1 before scoring three times in the bottom of the fifth inning, tying the game on a Jesse McCullough (Tufts) RBI single and taking the lead for good on a Mark Quatrani (Cornell) groundball two-run single to centerfield. 

Lake Monsters added another run in sixth before building their advantage to 9-2 with four runs in the seventh on four walks, two run-scoring wild pitches and a Tyler Favretto (Kansas Wesleyan) two-run double. 

Recent Vermont High School graduates Nick Kelly (South Burlington/FairfieldU) and Zach Davis (Colchester/BryantU) made their Lake Monster debuts out of the bullpen. Kelly allowed one run on two hits in the fifth inning and picked up the victory, while Davis allowed one run on two hits over two innings (7th and 8th) .They are the 28th and 29th Vermont High Schoolers to play for the Lake Monsters over the team’s four-year Futures League history.
