BURLINGTON, VT — The Lake Monsters seven-game winning streak came to a halt on Thursday night as a trio of Nashua pitchers tossed a five-hit shutout as the Silver Knights defeated Vermont 7-0 in Futures League action on Delta Dental Diamond at historic Centennial Field.

Nashua jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first on back-to-back two-out RBI singles and an RBI double off Vermont starter John Delgado (Stevenson), who had not allowed an earned run over his first 20 innings pitched prior to Thursday.

The Silver Knights added two more runs in the sixth off reliever Emmet Christian (Tufts) and another two runs in the ninth off Nate Fletcher (Rhode Island). Vermont was unable to score on the night despite a Sam Cavossa (Saint Michael’s) leadoff double in the first, a Jeremy Sosa (Manhattan) leadoff triple in the fourth and loading the bases with one out in the bottom of the ninth.
