BURLINGTON, VT — The Nashua Silver Knights snapped a 1-1 tie with four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and went on to snap the Vermont Lake Monsters six-game winning streak with a 7-4 Futures League victory Friday night at Holman Stadium,

After Vermont had tied game 1-1 in the top of the seventh on Colby Brouillette (Central Connecticut) one-out bases loaded walk, Nashua scored its four runs in the bottom of the inning after loading bases on pair of one-out singles and a walk. Tommy Ahlers followed with a two-run single off reliever Eddie Kaftan (Catholic) for a 3-1 Silver Knights advantage. 

Vermont rallied with three runs in the eighth on a Tyler Favretto (Kansas Wesleyan) RBI single, run-scoring wild pitch and another run on a Eric Jeon (Columbia) infield single/throwing error. But with tying run on second with one out, Mark Quatrani (Cornell) and Brouillette struckout to end inning.

The Silver Knights (13-16) got a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to hand Vermont its first loss since June 18th and drop the Lake Monsters to 14-12 overall.

  • Cole Tarrant (Hobart) retired all 6 batters faced in 5th and 6th, then 1st batter of 7th before leaving after loading bases with 2 singles and walk 
  • After the Brouillette 1-out bases loaded walk, Tommy Googins (Princeton) and Chone James (Virginia) struckout to keep game 1-1
  • Vermont left 12 runners on base and  3-for-14 with runners in scoring position 

BEYOND BOXSCORE 

  • Over last 9 games (including June 20th suspended game), Vermont starting pitchers have allowed 9 runs (6 ER) on 23 hits over 38 combined innings (1.42 ERA)
