BURLINGTON, VT — The Vermont Lake Monsters head into the Futures League All-Star Break on a six-game winning streak after holding on for a 3-2 victory over the Nashua Silver Knights Sunday evening in front of 2,907 at historic Centennial Field’s Delta Dental Diamond.

The contest was scoreless until the fifth when the Silver Knights got an RBI single off reliever Adam Schwartz (Colby), but the Lake Monsters responded with a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the inning. After a leadoff error and walk, Tyler Harmony (Northeastern) and Sam Cavossa (Saint Michael’s) gave Vermont the lead with back-to-back two-out RBI singles.

Harmony added another two-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh after Vermont had opened the inning with a hit batter and walk. That would prove an important run as Nashua scored a one-out run in the ninth before loading the bases with back-to-back two-out walks.

But Sean Gamble (Bethany Lutheran) got the league’s batting average leading Patrick Shrake) to groundout into a fielder’s choice to earn his third save of the week, league-leading seventh of the season and Vermont FCBL-era record 19th career save.
