NASHUA, NH — The Vermont Lake Monsters closed out the 2025 Futures League regular-season with a 2-1, 10-inning loss to the Nashua Silver Nights on Saturday night at Holman Stadium.
After holding Vermont scoreless in the top of the 10, the Silver Knights quickly won the game in the bottom of the inning with a sacrifice bunt moving the placed runner to third followed by a grounder to short that Bryan Richman (Cal Poly Pomona) dove to stop, but couldn’t get the throw home in time to keep winning run from scoring.
Leandro Guevara (AIC) went 3-for-4 and accounted for the Lake Monsters only run with an RBI double in the second after Hunter Kingsbury (Bryant) was hit by a pitch leading off the inning. Besides Guevara’s three hits, Vermont had just one other hit on a Travis Stroh (Fairleigh Dickinson) infield single.
Nashua tied the game 1-1 in the seventh on a leadoff double and pair of two-out wild pitches by reliever Alvin Gomez (AIC). Lake Monsters starter Emmet Christian (Tufts) scattered three hits with no walks and five strikeouts over the first five innings.
Vermont (40-22) will begin their fifth straight FCBL playoff appearance 5:05pm Sunday at historic Centennial Field when they host the New Britain Bees in game one of a best-of-three semifinal series. The teams will play game two on Monday in New Britain and game three, if necessary, will be at Vermont 6:35pm Tuesday.
