WORCESTER, MA — The Lake Monsters rallied from a 4-0 deficit with three runs in the top of the seventh and four more runs in the ninth as Vermont beat the first-place Worcester Bravehearts 7-3 in Futures League action at Fitton Field Sunday evening.
Vermont got the rally started in the seventh on a two-run triple from Jordan Kang (Harvard) and a Tommy Martin sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 4-3. Kang got the ninth-inning with a leadoff walk and later scored from third on an Antonio Perrotta (Virginia) one-out RBI single to left.
After an infield single loaded the bases, Tyler Favretto (Crowder) lined a 2-1 pitch into right for an RBI single scoring Trevor Cohen (Rutgers). Perrotta scored an insurance run on a Kyle Lodise (Augusta) RBI groundout before back-to-back walks to Kyle McCausland (Middlebury) and Ryan Eaton (CVU/Manhattan) increased the advantage to 7-4.
Wyatt Cameron (Middlebury/Central Connecticut) worked around a one-out double and two-out walk in bottom ninth for his league-high fifth save of the season after Callen Fang (Harvard) worked a scoreless eighth to earn the victory.
