NASHUA, NH — Shane McNamara went 3-for-3 with five RBI including a first-inning grand slam to lead the Nashua Silver Knights to an 8-5 Futures League victory over the Vermont Lake Monsters Tuesday night at Holman Stadium.
The Silver Knights loaded the bases in bottom of first on a walk, double and walk before McNamara hit first pitch from Vermont starter Geordan Jackson Murphy (UMass-Dartmouth) to the opposite field for a grand slam to left.
Nashua added a pair of unearned runs in fifth before Vermont got on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth on a Tyler Favretto (Kansas Wesleyan) two-run groundball single to right. The Lake Monsters added another run in the seventh on a Jack Winnay (Wake Forest) triple and Antonio Perrotta (Virginia) sacrifice fly.
A Will Fosberg (3-for-4) two-run single in the bottom of the seventh increased the Silver Knights lead to 8-3. Vermont cut the deficit to three in the ninth, scoring runs on a fielding error and passed ball, but the game ended with the tying run at the plate on a 4-6-3 double play.’

- Brayden Howrigan (Enosburg/Castleton) allowed just 2 unearned runs in 5th and 6th before giving up 2 runs in 7th
- Lake Monster batters had 8 walks and 4 strikeouts, 14th time more BB than SO in game
- Coupled with Worcester loss, Vermont (26-14) remains 2 games behind the Bravehearts for first-place in FCBL standings (next games at Worcester July 12-13)
