PITTSFIELD, MA — The Suns hit four home runs, including a two-run go ahead homer in the opener and three solo shots in the nightcap, as Pittsfield swept a Futures League doubleheader from the Vermont Lake Monsters 6-1 and 4-1 on Tuesday night at Wahconah Park.

In the opener, Vermont starter Patric Menk (Virginia) allowed just one hit and one walk (both erased on caught stealings) over the first four innings before giving up a leadoff single and a two-out Evan Blake two-run homer in the fifth that gave the Suns a 2-1 lead.

Pittsfield added four insurance runs in the sixth to snap Vermont’s six-game winning streak. The Lake Monsters only run in the two games came on an Antonio Perrotta (Virginia) RBI single in the third that had given Vermont a 1-0 lead.

The second batter of game two for Pittsfield, Sean McGee, hit a solo homer off Vermont starter Silas Reed (Tufts), who also gave up a solo homer to Cedric Rose in the third for a 3-0 Suns advantage. Taylor Gaspar added a solo home run in the sixth for Pittsfield (11-12).

Jordan Kang (Harvard) went 3-for-3 in game two for the Lake Monsters, including an RBI single in the seventh that spoiled the shutout bid for the Suns. Vermont (16-7) got the tying run to the plate with two outs in the seventh, but a flyout to center ended the game,
