BURLINGTON, VT — For the second year a Vermont Lake Monster is the FCBL Most Valuable Player as first baseman Shaun McMillan has been named the 2025 Futures League MVP along with being selected as the Top Pro Prospect (Position Player).
A year after Cornell University catcher Mark Quatrani was named the 2024 FCBL Most Valuable Player, McMillan made it two Vermont MVP in a row after leading the Futures League with 11 home runs, 16 doubles (tied), 52 RBI and a .568 slugging percentage during the 2025 season.
A sophomore at St. Johns University, McMillan hit .313 (60-for-192) with 40 runs to go along with his Lake Monsters FCBL-era record 11 home runs, 16 doubles and 52 RBI. His 40 runs were second in the league to teammate Sam Cavossa’s 42, while his 60 hits, 29 walks and .408 on-base % were third-most in the FCBL. The MVP award gives the Lake Monsters a sweep of the league’s 2025 Player (McMillan) and Pitcher (John Delgado) of the Year awards.
In addition to being named MVP, McMillan was also honored as the league’s Top Pro Prospect. He is the second Lake Monster in five years to garner the honor, joining 2021 recipient Ethan Anderson, who is currently catching for the Baltimore Orioles Double-A affiliate Chesapeake BaySox.
