BURLINGTON, VT — The Vermont Lake Monsters broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and held on to win their eighth straight game with a 4-2 victory over the New Britain Bees in Futures League action Sunday evening at historic Centennial Field.
Vermont plated the first run of the game without the benefit of a hit in the seventh as Cam Conley (Pepperdine) led off with a walk, advanced to third on back-to-back hit batters and scored on a bases loaded walk to Connor Bowman (Tufts). After a strikeout, Henry Godbout (Virginia) laced a single to center scoring Jimmy Evans (Tufts) and a throwing error on the play allowed Justin Kelly (Princeton) to score the third run.
Conley, who walked in each of his first three plate appearances, made it 4-0 in the bottom of eighth inning with an RBI single to center scoring George Cooper (Harvard).
Starter Karter Muck (Kansas) allowed just two hits with four strikeouts over the first four innings, while Ian Parent (Endicott) allowed two unearned runs on two hits with six strikeouts over four-plus inning for the win.
