NEW BRITAIN, CT — After falling behind 4-0 early and 6-5 in the bottom of the fifth, the Vermont Lake Monsters rallied with a single run in both the seventh and eighth innings to win their seventh straight game with a 7-6 victory over the New Britain Bees in Futures League action Saturday night at New Britain Stadium.

Bees scored four runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning, but Vermont scored three runs in the top of the fourth and took a 5-4 lead in the top of fifth on a Jimmy Evans (Tufts) two-run homer. It marked the second straight day that Evans had hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning that gave Vermont a one-run lead.

New Britain took 6-5 lead bottom of fifth after leading the bases with no outs. Liam Reiner (CVU/St. Lawrence) got a pop out and double play ball to shortstop that could have gotten him out of inning, but after forceout at second the throw to first was wild allowing two runs to score.

Vermont tied game 6-6 top 7th on bases loaded hit batter and then took 7-6 lead top eighth on Colby Brouillette (BFA/Clarkson) sacrifice fly scoring Jackson Kline (Kansas), who had reached on a one-out single.
