BURLINGTON, VT — The Futures League has announced both their first and second-team All-League selections with four Lake Monsters named first-team All-League with the selections of pitchers Francis Ferguson, Evan Maloney, Callan Fang and utility player Tommy Martin.
Ferguson (Eastern Nazarene), who was earlier in the month named the FCBL Pitcher of the Year, finished the season 6-1 with a 2.25 ERA, 50 strikeouts over 52 innings and limited opposing batters to a .193 average.
Maloney (Rhode Island) went 2-1 with a league-leading 2.09 ERA, allowing just 11 earned runs over 47 1/3 innings and holding opponents to a .210 average. Both Ferguson and Maloney were two of five pitchers selected as first-team starting pitchers.
Fang (Harvard) was 2-1 with seven saves and a 1.14 ERA over 21 appearances out of the bullpen to be selected as one of two first-team relievers. He finished the season allowing just three earned runs with eight walks and 45 strikeouts over 23.2 innings (17.11 strikeouts per 9 innings pitched).
Martin (Yale), who split the season between second base and the three outfield positions in his 47 games played, was one of two players selected as first-team DH/utility player after hitting .278 with eight doubles and 23 RBI. He finished the season tied with Antonio Perrotta (Virginia) for the team lead in hits (40) and runs scored (29).
Vermont, which did not have any players named second-team All-FCBL, tied with New Britain for most first-team selections with four. For full list of All-League teams, the Futures League release can be viewed by clicking here.
