WORCESTER, MA — The Lake Monsters scored all four of their runs with two outs on a pair of RBI doubles and a Colby Brouillette two-run homer, while Tim Noone tossed six scoreless innings and Wyatt Cameron two innings for the save as Vermont completed a two-game sweep of a Futures League series with a 4-1 victory over Worcester Friday night at Fitton Field.
Lake Monsters took a 1-0 lead in the third on a Jimmy Evans (Tufts) two-out RBI double followed in the fourth inning with a Harrison Didawick (Virginia) one-out single and Tyler Favretto (Crowder) two-out RBI double. Brouillette (BFA/Clarkson) doubled the lead to 4-0 with a line drive shot just inside the rightfield foul pole.
Noone (3-0) allowed four hits with two walks and five strikeouts over his six innings. The left-hander from Babson College retired 13 of the first 16 batters he faced before a two-out error, single and walk loaded the base, but Noone got a strikeout to get out of the jam.
Worcester got its run on a one-out bases loaded hit batter in the seventh off Zach Lewis (Wake Forest), but Evan Clark (USC) came in to get back-to-back called strikeouts to end the threat. Cameron (Midldebury/NE College) tossed a scoreless eighth before allowing back-to-back singles to open the bottom of ninth, but got a double play and strikeout looking to earn his second save
