BURLINGTON, VT — The Vermont Lake Monsters erased a four-run deficit with a five-run bottom of the fourth inning and held on for a 5-4 victory over the Nashua Silver Knights in a Futures League contest shortened to six innings due to rain Tuesday night in front of 2,388 at historic Centennial Field.

After allowing four runs in the top of the third inning, Vermont starter Francis Ferguson (Eastern Nazarene) rebounded in the fourth by striking out the side and then the Lake Monsters sent 10 batters to the plate in the bottom of the inning to plate their five runs.

Logan Keller (Navy) got the inning started with a triple to right center and scored Vermont’s first run on a Antonio Perrotta (Virginia) RBI line drive single to center. A hit batter, run-scoring wild pitch, a walk and a Jordan Kang (Harvard) sacrifice fly cut the deficit to 4-3.

Two batters later Tommy Martin (Yale) tied the game with an RBI to right field, then after the third walk of the inning, Eduardo Diaz (Navy) lined a go ahead RBI single to right field,

The Silver Knights got the tying run to second base with two outs in the sixth, but Wyatt Cameron (Central Connecticut) came on in relief and needed just one pitch to induce an inning-ending groundout to first base.

With rain falling throughout the first 5 ½ innings (following a 37-minute delay to start the game), the game was officially called after the top of the sixth inning, giving Vermont (8-4) its fifth win in the last 6 games.
