BURLINGTON, VT — Sean Matson tossed five scoreless innings and had nine strikeouts for his second straight start, while Colby Brouilllette’s sixth-inning double gave Vermont a 1-0 lead before the Lake Monsters added a couple of runs in the eighth inning for a 3-1 victory over the Nashua Silver Knights Wednesday night at Holman Stadium.

Matson (Harvard), who allowed just one hit over four innings in Vermont’s season opener May 26th at Westfield, struckout two Silver Knights in each of the first four innings and added his ninth of the night in the fifth. Only baserunners allowed over his five innings were a leadoff single in the third and leadoff double in fourth.

Brouillette (BFA/Clarkson) gave the Lake Monsters a 1-0 lead in top of sixth with an RBI double scoring Jackson Kline (Kansas). Then in the eighth, Cam Conley (Pepperdine) singled with two outs, stole second and scored on a Jimmy Evans (Tufts) RBI single followed by a Jackson Curtis (Kansas) RBI double for 3-0 advantage.
