NEW BRITAIN, CT — The Lake Monsters scored at least one run in eight of the nine innings they batted, finishing with the night with 13 runs on 19 hits to complete a two-game Future League series sweep of the New Britain Bees 13-4 Wednesday night at New Britain Stadium.

The 13 runs were the most by a Vermont team since July 23, 2022 when they scored 13 runs vs. Worcester and most runs scored on the road since the Lake Monsters joined the FCBL in 2021. After a pair of Vermont runs in the first inning,Tyler Wells (St. Johnsbury/UNew Haven) added a solo home run in the second. The Danville, VT native is just the third Vermonter to hit a home run for the Lake Monsters in three FCBL seasons (Georgia’s Colby Brouillette and Burlington’s Sky Rahill).

Eduardo Diaz (Navy) added an RBI single and Brouillette (BFA/Central Connecticut) a two-run single in the fourth before a Tommy Martin (Yale) RBI double and Diaz RBI singles in the fifth for a 9-0 lead.

After New Britain scored four times in the fifth (including a Freddy Forgione three-run double) and the Lake Monsters were held scoreless for the only inning of the night in the sixth, Martin added an RBI in seventh, Wells a two-run single in eighth and Logan Keller (Navy) an RBI single in ninth.
