Vermont 18-Hit Attack In 17-11 Win Tuesday

NASHUA, NH – Jake Lopez reached base safely in all six of his plate appearances the Vermont Lake Monsters scored 15 runs over a four-inning stretch to take a 15-4 lead and went on to beat the Nashua Silver Knights 17-11 in Futures League action Tuesday night at Holman Stadium.

After spotting the Silver Knights a 2-0 lead in the first, Vermont scored five times in the second on a Thomas Moss (Trinity TX) RBI single, Bennett Hewett (Clark) two-run single and Lopez (Seton Hall) two-run double. Lake Monsters added another four runs in the third, including a two-run single from Lopez.

Lake Monsters scored three more times in both the fourth and fifth innings. Jack Fitzgerald (Montevallo) and Billy Tigar (Montclair State) had back-to-back RBI doubles followed by an Evan Dennis (Colby Sawyer) RBI single in fourth before Moss RBI single in fifth for the 15-4 lead. 

Silver Knights scored four times in the  fifth and two more in the seventh to cut the deficit to 16-10. Vermont got its final run in the eighth on a Danny O’Brien (Montclair State) sacrifice fly to plate Lopez, who finished the night 4-for-4 with two hit by pitches, three runs, a double and four RBI
