BURLINGTON, VT — Two Brockton relievers tossed six scoreless innings in the completion of a 6-3 suspended game victory, while a pair of Rox pitchers threw a seven-inning five-hit 5-0 shutout for a pair of Futures League wins over the Vermont Lake Monsters Friday night at historic Centennial Field.
When the game resumed Friday in the bottom of the fourth inning with Brockton leading 5-3, Mason McDermott came on to throw 5.1 shutout innings for the Rox which included working out of a bases loaded, one-out jam in the eighth. After McDermott allowed a pair of two-out hits in the ninth, Riley Williams recorded the final out to earn the save.
Anthony Mateo went the first six innings in the night’s regularly-scheduled contest, limiting Vermont to just one hit over the first four innings and also worked out of a two-out, bases loaded jam in the sixth. Sean Zaslow had a scoreless seventh to clinch the shutout.
