Lowell Slams Way Past Vermont 10-9 Monday

LOWELL, MA — The Lowell Spinners scored six unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, including a two-out grand slam for a five-run lead, then held off the a late Lake Monsters rally for a 10-9 Futures League victory over Vermont Monday night at LeLecheur Park.

A fielding error and two walks to lead off the bottom of sixth before Lowell tied the game on an RBI forceout, took the lead on a two-out bases loaded walk followed by a Esteban Dessureault grand slam for a 10-5 Sinners advantage. 

Vermont got a pair of unearned runs on a two-out bases loaded fielding error in the top of the seventh and an Elias Huber (Arizona Western) one-out, two-run single in eighth cut the deficit to one. The Lake Monsters got a leadoff single in ninth and had two runners in scoring position when Jake Dunlap (Catawba), who had four hits and two RBI  in first five at bats, struckout swinging to end the game.
