Vermont 2-0 After 8-6 Victory Thursday at Worcester

WORCESTER, MA — The Vermont Lake Monsters scored five times in the top of the fifth inning and held on for their second straight win to open the 2026 Futures League season with an 8-6 victory over the Worcester Bravehearts Thursday afternoon at Fitton Field. 

After an error and sacrifice bunt to open the game, the Lake Monsters stringed together four straight hits including RBI singles from Elias Huber (Arizona Western), Tommy Moss (Trinity TX) and Bennett Hewett (Clark) for 3-0 lead. Quinn Dasheksky (Hobart) capped the inning with an RBI single for a 5-0 advantage.

Vermont added a run in the third before Worcester cut the deficit to 6-5 with a four-run fourth and another run in fifth. Lake Monsters held the one-run advantage until the eighth when they plated a pair of insurance runs on an RBI double from Jack Fitzgerald (Montevallo), who later scored on an error.
