Vermont Tosses 10-1 Win Vs. Lowell Sunday

BURLINGTON, VT — Reed Stygles and Issac Jensen combined to allow three hits with nine strikeouts, while Travis Stroh scored three runs including once on his two-run homer in the seventh inning to lead the Vermont Lake Monsters to a 10-1 Futures League victory over the Lowell Spinners in front of 3,571 on Delta Dental Diamond at Centennial Field Sunday evening. 

Stygles (BFA-St. Albans/USC Aiken) allowed one run on two hits with two walks and four strikeouts over five innings to earn his third win of the season. After Stygles retired seven of the last eight batters he faced, Jensen (Southern Maine) retired 12 of the 13 batters, five by strikeout, over four scoreless innings for the save.

Bryan Richman (Cal Poly Pomona) led off the bottom of the first with team-leading ninth double and scored his league-leading 38th run on a Jake Lopez (UIndianapolis) RBI single. Vermont scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings for a 4-1 lead before Stroh hit his second two-run homer of the season for a 6-1 lead. |

The Lake Monsters added four more runs in the eighth on Hunter Strohm’s (Mississippi State) second RBI of game,, pinch hitter Colin West’s (Baldwin Wallace) sacrifice fly and a Patrick Shrake (Colby) two-run single.
