BURLINGTON, VT — The Norwich Sea Unicorns used a trio of two-out, run-scoring base hits in a 4-1 victory over the Vermont Lake Monsters in Futures League action Friday night at historic Centennial Field.

Trailing 1-0 in the sixth, the Sea Unicorns loaded the bases with no outs on a pair of singles and a hit batter. Lake Monsters reliever Sean Gamble (Minnesota State) struckout the next two Norwich batters, but Joey Agar blooped a two-run single to left giving Norwich the lead.

Breon Parker followed with an RBI infield single and the Sea Unicorns added a fourth run in the eighth on a C.J. Egrie two-out RBI single to right field for a 4-1 advantage.

Vermont scored its run in the third when Kyle Lodise (Augusta) walked, stole second and scored on a two-out throwing error.

Lake Monsters starter Tristen Spalter (Babson) allowed two hits and two walks with two strikeouts over the first five scoreless innings before leaving the game after giving up a leadoff single in the sixth.

With the loss, Vermont falls to 2-1 on the young season and will host Pittsfield at 6:05pm on Saturday and 5:05pm on Sunday.
