Strohm Paces Vermont In 4-2 Win Thursday

BURLINGTON, VT  –  Hunter Strohm went 3-for-3 with a walk,  double, triple and three RBI as the Vermont Lake Monsters won their 20th game at the midpoint of the Futures League season with a 4-2 victory over the Nashua Silver Knights Thursday night on Delta Dental Diamond at Centennial Field. 

Vermont tied the game 1-1 in the second on a two-out bases loaded walk to Strohm (Mississippi State) to plate Tyler Wiltsey (Rutgers), who gave the Lake Monsters a 2-1 advantage in the fourth with a two-out RBI infield single. Strohm followed with a line drive triple up the left-center gap  for a two-run lead. 

Strohm and Wiltsey combined for Vermont’s fourth run with two outs in the sixth as Wiltsey walked before advancing to third on a Strohm double to right and scored on an error on the throw back into the infield. The Silver Knights got a run in the eighth on a double play before Sam Labreque (Oberlin) tossed a 1-2-3 ninth for his league-leading sixth save. 

With the victory, the Lake Monsters remain atop the FCBL standings with a 20-10 record after 30 of their scheduled 60 regular-season games.
