Walsh & Henshon Homer in 9-1 Win Sunday
BURLINGTON, VT — Brenden Walsh (three-run) and James Henshon (two-run) both homered, while Doug Pyle tossed five scoreless innings as the Vermont Lake Monsters extended its winning streak to five straight games with a 9-1 Futures League victory over the Norwich Sea Unicorns on Sunday evening on Delta Dental Diamond at Centennial Field.Â
Vermont scored the game’s first run in the fourth on a Joe Dunlap (Catawba) RBI single and two batters later Walsh (Endicott) smacked his three-run homer 344-feet down the leftfield line for a 4-0 advantage.Â
They added another four runs in the fifth, including Henshon’s (Tufts) 356-foot line drive homer to left center. Dunlap picked up his second RBI single of the game in the sixth for the Lake Monsters ninth run.
Pyle (Azusa Pacific), making his second start of the season, scattered three hits with a walk and two strikeouts over his five scoreless innings to earn the victory. He allowed a two-single in first, one-out single in third that was quickly erased by a double play and a leadoff single in the fourth.
