Lake Monsters Fall Late 10-6 On Monday

BURLINGTON, VT – The New Britain Bees took an early 4-0 lead before falling behind 6-4 in the seventh inning, but then scored six times over the final two innings to hand the Vermont Lake Monsters its second straight loss with a 10-6 Futures League victory Monday night on Delta Dental Diamond at Centennial Field.

The Bees scored once in the second and three times in the 3rd for the 4-0 lead, but the Lake Monsters scratched out a run in the fifth on a wild pitch before tying the game in the sixth with a pair of sacrifice flies and a run-scoring pass ball. Evan Dennis (Colby Sawyer) gave Vermont the lead in the seventh with another sac fly and Thomas Moss (Trinity TX) added an RBI single for the 6-4 Lake Monsters lead. 

New Britain opened the eighth with four straight hits including an RBI single and RBI double to tie the game, then took the lead on an RBI forceout and bases loaded walk for an 8-6 advantage.  The Bees added a couple of insurance runs in the ninth on a bases loaded walk and sac fly.
