Roadtrip Ends With 7-4 Loss Wednesday

NORWICH, CT  — After allowing three unearned runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game, the Norwich Sea Unicorns scored three times in the bottom of the sixth for a 7-4 victory over the Vermont Lake Monsters in Futures League action at Dodd Stadium Wednesday night.

Vermont trailed 4-1 in the sixth, but following a two-out error and hit batter Thomas Moss (Trinity TX) plated one run with an RBI double and Tyler Wiltsey (Rutgers) followed with a two-run double to center to tie game 4-4.

Norwich quickly loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth with a walk, infield single and an error before taking lead on an RBI groundout to short and adding a second run on a two-out wild pitch. The Sea Unicorns then scored the third run on an RBI double to rightcenter, the first ball hit out of the infield in the inning. 

The Lake Monsters got a runner to third base with one out in the seventh and loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth, but were unable to cut into the deficit as Vermont was held to a season-low four hits in the contest.

* Travis Stroh (CVU/Fairleigh Dickinson) 0-for-3 to snap a 7-game hitting streak
* Kevin Rovinelli (Columbia) tossed 1 scoreless inning for the 2nd straight night
* Vermont (12-7) went 3-3 on 6-game roadtrip and return home for 7 straight and 13 of next 15
