BURLINGTON, VT — Andrew Kanellis hit a three-run homer and Tanner Wolpert tossed two scoreless innings in his Lake Monsters debut in a Vermont 10-0 victory over the Pittsfield Suns in a Futures League game Wednesday night at historic Centennial.

As part of the league-wide “Celebration of Baseball” with some games played with different rules on Wednesday, the contest will not count in the official FCBL standings, so Vermont’s current winning streak will remain at nine straight despite Wednesday’s victory.

Kanellis (Vasser) capped off a five-run seventh inning with his second hit of the game, a three-run homer into the bleachers beyond the leftfield fence. The game ended in the bottom of the eighth on a Jordan Kelly (Princeton) base loaded two-run single to right field for the 10-run mercy rule victory.

Wolpert, local graduate of Rice Memorial High School, struckout the first two batters of the game in a 1-2-3 top of the first inning. After allowing a hit and walk to open the second, Wolpert got a pair of forceouts before a flyout to right ended his night.
