BURLINGTON, VT — Robbie Lee set a new Lake Monsters Futures League-era record with 12 strikeouts in Vermont’s 7-2 victory in completion of suspended game from June 20th before the Lake Monsters scored single runs in each of the first three innings of the nightcap for a 3-2 win over the FCBL Road Warriors Sunday afternoon at historic Centennial Field 

Back on June 20th, Lee (Denison) allowed one run on 3 hits with a walk and three strikeouts over the first two innings before the game was suspended by rain. Then Sunday Lee picked up where he left off, pitching from the third inning into the eighth and striking out nine more batters to finish with 12 punchouts.. 

Vermont led 3-1 after two innings when the game was suspended on June 20th and led 3-2 on Sunday when they scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth on four hits, including a Jacob Miller (Jacksonville) RBI double and Jesse McCullough (Tufts) RBI single around an Owen McKiernan (Tufts) sacrifice fly. Chone James (Virginia), who had RBI single in second inning on June 20th, added a sac fly in the seventh for 7-2 advantage

Leadoff walks in each of the first three innings of game two led to Vermont’s runs. Tyler Favretto (Kansas Wesleyan) walked to lead off the first and scored on a two-out balk, while Jackson Sirois (Virginia) scored on Jack Rickheim (Harvard) RBI single in second and McKiernan added an RBI single in the third. 

Hayden Mutz (AIC) allowed one run on three hits with a walk and four strikeouts over the first four innings of seven-inning game two, while Sean Gamble (Minnesota State) tossed a 1-2-3 seventh-inning for his league-leading seventh save.
